THE NEW DRESSAGE SIMULATOR IS NOW AVAILABLE!!!
The new dressage simulator can bend it's neck, and has a saddle with sensors for both seat and leg signals, so that you can practice and learn without fear or concern for "doing it wrong". There is new software with the ability to ride a test and then play back what you have done...pretty cool....
Here's the story of how I came together with the man who developed the simulator...
While I was in L.A. , I had a thought one night as I watched my Instructor friends having a go on the mechanical bull at a local western themed restaurant...(no, you couldn't get me on one of those)....someone must have invented a horse that could move as well as this bull...and perhaps I should be looking at some new technology instead of combing the countryside for school horses...not that they would replace horses, it would just be an added benefit to be able to work on some basics, or help those with a fear of, say canter departs, to have an easy experience....I remembered seeing a polo pony simulator(picture below) at the games at Outback Polo in Wellington, Florida...surely there are other models, I thought....
Anyway, I found the man, Bill Greenwood, in England, an engineer who had created the Racewood Simulators. I emailed him right away. He emailed me back that he could not talk to me now, he would be away for a week. I emailed back, where are you going to be? He emailed back, in California. Coincidence? Amazing....by Wednesday, we were sitting in a Starbucks Cafe, and I excitedly asked him questions about the "machines".
